As we step into 2024, the intersection of community engagement and sustainability continues to define the path for our industry. The rapidly changing landscape of energy codes, electric vehicle (EV) infrastructure, and energy initiatives highlights the critical role that proactive education and outreach play in fostering progress. At ID360, we are committed to empowering communities and organizations through meaningful connections, transparent communication, and impactful programs.

Empowering Communities Through Engagement

Community engagement remains the cornerstone of effective governance and policy implementation. By involving residents in shaping policies—whether related to new energy codes or energy efficiency strategies—we create opportunities for dialogue, understanding, and collaboration. Engagement isn’t just about informing; it’s about listening, adapting, and building trust.

In practice, this means hosting town halls, workshops, and focus groups that facilitate genuine two-way communication. From addressing questions to demystifying complex regulations, these platforms ensure transparency and community buy-in. Simplifying technical information into digestible formats—like infographics, video explainers, or relatable stories—further enhances accessibility. When residents see how policies align with their values and daily lives, they are more likely to embrace change and actively participate in shaping their communities’ futures.

Driving Innovation Through Education

As sustainability becomes increasingly central to policy agendas, education takes on a pivotal role. The California Green Building Standards Code (CALGreen) update, effective July 1, 2024, underscores this shift with its heightened EV infrastructure requirements. This is why we saw increased interest in flexible education options, like those offered through our ID360 Academy, in 2024. Stakeholders need to be at the forefront of these changes and understand the impacts on their communities.

Collaboration with organizations like Regional Energy Networks (RENs) was also a critical theme of this year. Bridging the gap between policy and practice RENs are driving meaningful change that resonates with communities and fulfills California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) goals. Our work with RENs has empowered an element of community choice and expanded the RENs ability to reach end users.

Looking Ahead: A Year of Connection and Progress

As we embrace the opportunities of 2025, one thing remains clear: progress begins with people. From fostering community trust to advancing sustainable practices, education and outreach are essential for navigating change. At ID360, we are proud to be part of this journey, working hand in hand with local governments, organizations, and residents.
