Welcome to Course #207 Fundamentals of Heat-Pump Water Heaters
This course provides an overview of heat-pump water heater technology, challenges and opportunities associated with these installations. The course includes an introduction to heat-pump technology and how the mechanics differ from traditional energy sources. The course will cover what to expect when installing a heat-pump water heater in both a residential and non-residential setting. We will cover additional considerations that must be addressed to be prepared for the electrification process. We will review common barriers related to permit application and inspection that the compliance officials must be prepared for in the field. This course is eligible for CEUs from the International Code Council.

- Gain knowledge and background of heat-pump water heater technology and understand considerations for the future of these installations.
- Identify conditions for installing heat-pump water heaters.
- Increase awareness of logistical impacts of heat-pump water heater installations regarding plans, specs, permitting, documentation, inspection, and local enforcement. Comprehend code measures by intent, plan check, and inspection requirements.
- This course will provide the necessary information for understanding if a heat-pump water heater installation project will require an electrical panel upgrade.
