Franklin Elementary School and Huntington Park High School, are both in the Los Angeles Unified School District and aim to be CHPS Verified. The certification project is a collaborative effort between Los Angeles Unified School District, ID360 (a sustainability consulting firm), and GGA Architects (an architectural design firm). The primary objective of this project is to achieve CHPS Verification for Franklin Elementary School and Huntington Park High School. The team developed a sustainable design plan for the schools, incorporated energy-efficient systems, green building materials, and enhanced the learning environment for the students and the staff. The work for Franklin Elementary School involves the design and construction a new two-story classroom building and a new one-story food service building at Franklin Elementary School in Los Feliz, CA. While the work for Huntington Park High School involves a major renovation project in Huntington Park, CA. This includes the construction of two new classroom buildings, a new gymnasium, and a new aquatics facility. Significant renovation work is also occurring on four existing buildings on campus: the admin building, science building, and two shops buildings.
The ID360 team was contracted to support GGA in submitting the CHPS application and documentation for Franklin Elementary School and Huntington Park High School. The ID360 team collaborated with GGA to conduct a comprehensive sustainability assessment of the design plan against the CHPS scorecard and CA-CHPS criteria to identify areas for improvement and achieve the baseline metrics. The ID360 team prepared a strategic implementation of all the CHPS criteria for both Franklin Elementary School and Huntington Park High School. The ID360 team supported GGA with the CHPS submittal process.
