Zero Net Energy Policy Development & Adoption

CLIENT: Development Services, City of Palo Alto
LOCATION: Palo Alto, California

We are a policy strategy consultant to the City of Palo Alto and are working with city staff to set future policy ambitions for Zero Net Energy ahead of the State of California targets for future California Building Code requirements. ID360 has supported the City with technical expertise in green building policy development since 2014. We supported staff to successfully develop and implement the current Green Building Ordinance and Energy Reach Code Ordinance. ID360 supports staff in communicating and coordinating with State agency requirements related to policy development.

EV Infrastructure & Solar Power Policy Development & Adoption

CLIENT: City of San Mateo
LOCATION: San Mateo, California

ID360 supported city staff and stakeholders to create a green building and energy policy to comply with the requirements within the City of San Mateo Climate Action Plan. The policy focuses on sustainability elements related to the built environment as outlined in the Climate Action Plan. The Climate Action Plan outlines progressive measures related to the built environment concerning renewable energy, energy efficiency, electric vehicle (EV) charging, and outdoor water efficiency. ID360 has been working with staff to realize the goals of the Climate Action Plan.

Green Building Policy Development & Adoption

Electric Vehicle Charging Policy Development & Adoption

CLIENT: City of San Mateo
LOCATION: San Mateo, California

ID360 has worked with city staff and stakeholders to organize and facilitate the Electric Vehicle Task Force to develop the nation’s most rigorous EV Charging Infrastructure ordinance. The policy focuses on EV charging requirements for new construction within the City of Palo Alto and on the Stanford Campus. The current policy mandates EV infrastructure for 25% of parking associated with new commercial construction and 25% of guest parking in multi-family new construction. New multifamily also requires EV readiness for one parking space per unit. This policy helps staff to realize the goals of the Sustainability and Climate Action Plan.

Electrification Policy Feasibility Study

CLIENT: Development Services & Utilities Depts, City of Palo Alto
LOCATION: Palo Alto, California

ID360 provided project management services the Development Services department within the City of Palo Alto to conduct a feasibility study to explore residential and commercial building code changes for new construction and remodeling projects to expedite electrification. Electrification is the concept of “fuel-switching” from gas to electricity. ID360 is providing technical project management and analysis consulting services to support Development Services in conducting the feasibility study. ID360 is collaborating with two other firms to determine the technical implementation and cost-effectiveness of electrification for building projects in Palo Alto.

Zero Net Energy Policy Roadmap Study

CLIENT: Development Services & Utilities Depts, City of Palo Alto
LOCATION: Palo Alto, California

ID360 was the project manager for the creation of the Zero Net Energy Roadmap study. The project was a collaboration between the City of Palo Alto Utilities and the Development Services departments. ID360 provided technical project management and analysis consulting services to conducting feasibility study. The study analyzed Palo Alto Utility Data and permit data to determine the most appropriatedirection for the city to develop local policy regarding Zero Net Energy, Electrification, and overall energy efficiency requirements. The technical author of the Roadmap Report was performed by another City Vendor.
